Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Cundiff officially joined XALT Energy in 2016, having been actively involved in the investment, management and operations of XALT since its inception in 2008. In 2015, Mr. Cundiff relocated to the Midland Battery Plant of XALT in order to oversee and participate in all major decisions of the company.
The formation of XALT Energy is in large part due to the experienced supervision and expertise of Mr. Cundiff, as he has been a driving force in the formation of Townsend Ventures, LLC and its subsequent creation of its robust investment portfolio. He has been integral in the acquisition and successful disposition of many of the company’s investments including Kokam America, Inc., Encelium Technologies and Kokam Co. Ltd. Additionally, he was intimately involved in the formation, structuring, and capitalization of Dow Kokam, LLC, the joint venture between Townsend Ventures and the Dow Chemical Company, the predecessor of XALT Energy.
Prior to joining XALT Energy, Mr. Cundiff was Chief Operating Officer of Townsend Capital, LLC, where he was employed from 2004 through 2015. To Townsend, he brought with him nearly a quarter century of investment banking experience in the financing and capitalization of projects and companies.
Prior to joining Townsend Capital, Mr. Cundiff spent almost 25 years at McDonald Investments Inc., a KeyCorp. Subsidiary based in Cleveland, Ohio where he held various positions, including Managing Director of Investment Banking.
Vice President of Operations
Prior to joining XALT Energy, Gary spent 17 years in the automotive industry and 6 years in the oil and gas industry. While in the automotive sector, he was Engineering and Operations Manager, as well as Bosch Production Systems Manager for the North American Diesel System division of Robert Bosch.
In the oil and gas industry, Mr. Wilson was Deputy General Manager for Vallourec Oil and Gas in their Houston, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi manufacturing facilities. He is certified by Arizona State University in the science of Lean Manufacturing Implementation techniques, holds Journeyman machinist certification from the London Institute of City and Guilds and has a BS in Business Management from University of Phoenix.
Vice President of Engineering
Prior to joining XALT Energy in February 2014, Mr. Klein was Director of Engineering at LG Chem Power Inc., responsible for the development and validation of automotive and commercial truck EV and HEV battery packs for a wide range of production programs including the Chevrolet Volt EREV, Ford BEV and Volvo Diesel PHEV.
Prior to that Mr. Klein held a number of positions at Ford Motor Company and Visteon Electronics (formerly the Electronics Division of Ford) over 17 years in the areas of electronics module design, systems integration and program management − both in the United States and Europe. Before joining Ford, Mr. Klein gained eight years of experience at Texas Instruments and Electrospace Systems Inc. (now Raytheon) with responsibility for Electromagnetic Compatibility of large airborne and ground-based defense systems. Mr. Klein received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and an MS in Electronic and Computer Control Systems from Wayne State University in Detroit.

James A. Carman
Director of Finance-Controller
James Carman joined XALT Energy, LLC in 2011 as an Accounting Manager and has since become part of the leadership team. He is responsible for financial leadership, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, financial accounting, financial reporting, cost accounting, taxes, insurance, government grants, and overall management of the finance organization.
Mr. Carman has almost 20 years of experience of financial accounting in a manufacturing environment. He began his career with Alma Products Company, a large automotive component remanufacturer, as a financial analyst and later became the Accounting Manager. While at Alma Products Company, he was the lead financial support in the company’s turnaround strategy which resulted in significant improvements in earnings.
Mr. Carman has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Olivet College.
Director of Human Resource
Ms. Keller is responsible for employee relations, talent acquisition and retention, employee and leadership development, performance management, succession planning, compensation, benefits, HRIS, compliance, policy administration and continuous improvement of HR processes and strategic planning.
Previous employment includes Dow Corning, Styron and Demmer Corporation.
She holds a BBA, Saginaw Valley State University and is a Certified Senior Human Resource Professional (SPHR).
Director of Cell Development
Ms. Stevenson is responsible for the development of next generation cell chemistries for both high energy and high power applications and the introduction and continuous improvement of cell manufacturing processes.
Ms. Stevenson then moved on to General Motors holding several key positions during the design, testing and launch of the Volt battery pack. In these positions she managed the manufacturing quality systems and validation testing of the Chevrolet Volt cell produced by LG Chem in Korea and Michigan, developed cell requirements and lead root cause investigation analysis of any electrochemical issues at the pack level. After the launch of the Volt she became the sole development and validation engineer for all EV, HEV, PHEV and BEV programs at GM.
Ms. Stevenson has a Bachelor’s of Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast Northern Ireland.
